Ilmari Tapiovaara Maija Suspension Lamp

Re-edition of a Finnish classic from 1955 based on functionality and intimacy. An excellent example of Finnish functionalism, the Maija series conveys a very Nordic concept of intimacy through a graceful, durable structure, like the children's book character Maya the Bee's hive. An opaque body, fragmented by superimposed plates, filters the light that dwells within.
