The Red Dogwood tree makes a breathtaking addition to any yard or landscape all year long! In the springtime this variety produces vibrant dark pink blooms that darken as the tree matures. However, the beauty of the Dogwood does not stop there. In the fall the Dogwood's green foliage turns a fiery red shade. Beautiful charcoal bark and red fruit compose the winter look of this variety. This fruit is a favorite winter food for many bird species. The Dogwood prefers partial shade and well-drained soil. In addition this plant also prefers soil that is slightly acidic, which helps with the draining process. The Dogwood grows at a fairly rapid pace, and can reach a mature height from 15-25 feet with a 25 foot spread. It is hardy in Zones 5-7.
